TOMINGLEY GOLD PROJECT

Client: Neill Earthmoving and Centrals

Project: Tomingley Gold Operations, Tomingley NSW

Barnson’s Role: Soil testing

Time frame: 974 tests over nine months during 2013

Tomingley Gold Mine is a medium-sized gold project with approximately 800,000 ounces of gold in the current defined resource space. Alkane Resources aims to produce 50,000 to 60,000 ounces of gold per year, based on an annual ore throughput of around one million tonnes. Mining operations began at the site in 2013, with the mine commissioned and gold production underway in January 2014. The mine has an expected life of seven and a half years.

Throughout 2013 Barnson was involved in compaction and moisture testing of the roads, plant area, ponds, and bunds at the site. Over a nine-month period a total of 974 tests were carried out for Neill Earthmoving and Centrals.

Barnson’s Geotechnical team worked around the clock to satisfy the enormous amount of testing in such a short period of time. The results were then turned around to enable the earthmovers to continue at full speed. Ensuring that the tests met the quality requirements whenever the weather caused a delay was a challenge for the project.
