Project: Major upgrade of Dubbo’s Sewerage Treatment Plant

Barnson’s Role: Sub-contractor to A1 Earthworx

Time frame: Completed June 2015

At $24 million, the major upgrade of Dubbo’s Sewerage Treatment Plant is the biggest single capital works project ever undertaken by Dubbo City Council. With the aim of coping with the sewerage infrastructure needs of a growing population, the project involves building an additional bioreactor and two clarifiers, with scope for a third clarifier in the future. The plant is designed to service a population of 55,000.

In a sub-contracting role for the project for A1 Earthworx the Barnson team provided survey services for earthmoving, and pipe and services installation. Our team also provided compaction testing for earthworks, compiled Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and survey reports, provided civil engineering design, and earthwork quantities.

The project ranged from needing staff attention for 40 hours per week to two to three visits spread over 15 hours, generally at short notice. The coordination and allocation of time for the project utilised Barnson’s project management resources to ensure that regular phone contact, site visits, and meetings were coordinated to keep everything running smoothly.
