The old Playmates Cottage Child Care Centre is due for demolition to make way for the expansion of the Dubbo Base Hospital. Barnson was engaged to identify potential sites for relocation and to provide the design and documentation for a new child care centre to not only replace the existing facility, but also allow for growth into the future. The $1.9 million project was for the design, documentation and construction of a new 606m2, 42-place child care centre with ancillary storage, parking and playground areas.
The new site posed significant challenges, primarily the need to work with a 5.5m fall diagonally across the site. Our building designers and engineers worked to incorporate parking with disabled access into the building, as well as a level playground for the children.
